Also known as (coca cola route). Marangu is the only route with communal sleeping hut equipped with beds and mattress at each hut. The Marangu route take the same route for both ascend and descend and make traveler to enjoy the route in both ways. Some believe it is the easiest route since it takes only 5 days to accomplish the whole trip. During hiking expect a variety of landscapes, perhaps some wildlife on the lower slopes.

DAY 1: Kilimanjaro airport – Arusha city

Driving distance: 55km/1hr

After arrival and clear custom at Kilimanjaro airport, meet with our smiling driver and guide at the exit door with your name on our sign board. Together will welcome you and assist to load your bags in the vehicle thereafter drive you to your accommodation in Arusha city.

Once in accommodation, driver will help you with check-in process then confirm the next day schedule.

(Depend with your arrival time, sales person will meet you for short briefing and your guide will check your climbing gears to ensure everything is in order before trekking. "If not today" briefing will be scheduled next morning before heading to the mountain)

Accommodation: Overnight stay at Karama Lodge on Bed and Breakfast Basis

DAY 2: Arusha city – Marangu gate – Mandara hut

Driving distance: 120km/3hrs
Walking distance: 8km/ 4hrs
Starting elevation: 1872 meters AML
Nature of trail: flat and gentle walk
Vegetation: Rain forest

Breakfast at the lodge followed by 3-hrs smooth drive toward Marangu gate for check in processes. Today’s walk, though almost entirely uphill, is a pleasant one, with perhaps the chance to see some blue monkeys or to admire the rainforest vegetation on the ascent.

The rainforest is the chief feature of today’s landscape therefore we might expect some shower on our way up. We continue with our walk till we reach our hut at around 16...hrs for refreshing before dinner which is saved 1930hrs.

DAY 3: Mandara Hut – Horombo hut

Walking distance: 11km/ 6-7 hrs
Starting elevation: 2720 meters AML
Nature of trail: Gradual walk
Vegetation: Moorland

Breakfast will be saved at 0700hrs then we proceed with our walk. Today we have more walking hours than yesterday however the walk is nourished by the beautifully landscapes we encounters on our way.

As we go up we leave aside the rain forest and passing through moorland and best renowned Maundi crater. If weather allows you can have clear chance to see the snowcapped peak of Kibo and Mawenzi with majestic view of the surrounding.

This is the best day for acclimatization as we are on transition from the zone with more fresh air to the zone with less oxygen due change of vegetation cover and altitude.

In the afternoon we have a short break to enjoy our picnic lunch then we continue with our trek to Horombo hut arrive for dinner at 1830hrs and overnight at the same dormitory style accommodation.

DAY 4: Horombo hut – Kibo hut

Walking distance: 9 km/ 5 hrs
Starting elevation: 3720 meters AML
Nature of trail: Gradual walk
Vegetation: Alpine desert

After breakfast at 0730hrs we continue our ascent into alpine desert. Here the path divides we choose to take the southern (left-hand) route. On this path we take the opportunity to fill up our water reserves at the Maua River, the last useable water supply at a height of around 4,000 metres.

At first today’s stage is rather steep, and there is less vegetation, but we are rewarded with our first sight today of some of the famous ‘cones’ of Kilimanjaro. Picnic lunch is once again scheduled for 13.00. After the Maua River, we climb towards the Mawenzi Ridge and across the barren, dry terrain known as The Saddle and head for the huts, which are at the bottom of the Kibo summit.

Dinner tonight is at 17.30 and you are advised to get to bed early, in preparation for the midnight departure for the summit. Kibo Huts are made of stone and quite basic. Before sleeping the guide will brief on what to wear and what to carry on the way to the summit.

DAY 5: Kibo hut – Summit – Horombo hut

Walking distance: Hiking time: 7 to 8 hours to reach Uhuru Peak | 6 to 8 hours to descend to Horombo
Starting elevation: 4720 meters AML
Nature of trail: Gradual walk
Vegetation: Alpine desert

We rise at 2300hrs we take our biscuits and tea before mid-night departure to the summit. Reference points on our ascent today are, first, William’s Point (5131 metres), Hans Meyer Cave (5258 metres) and then Gillman’s Point (5719 metres).

The focus today is on walking slowly. On reaching the top, we take time to celebrate the successful climb, take photos and congratulate ourselves, then make the descent to return to Kibo hut for about 11.00 and take a very well-deserved, two-hour rest and enjoy a welcome hot lunch.

Setting off again at 14.00, we continue our descent until we reach Horombo for about 17.00. Dinner will be served at 19.00

DAY 6: Horombo – Marangu gate –Arusha city

Walking distance: 19kms /7hrs
Starting elevation: 3720 meters AML
Nature of trail: Gradual walk
Vegetation: Moorland to Rain forest

After breakfast we keep on celebrating our success while descending toward Marangu gate. More fresh air is supplied by the rain forest as we pass through in the first zone of the mountain.

At Marangu gate we will be supplied with the certificate of achievement and enjoying the lunch before we take off back to our hotel in Arusha city.

As a gesture to the crew, this is a recommended day to tip/reward your team.

DAY 7: Arusha city –Kilimanjaro International Airport

Driving distance: 55kms /1hrs

After a relaxed night and breakfast, you will check out from your lodge mostly 10:00hrs ready for transfer but if you will need a day room please let us know in advance so we will tell you the cost and book it for you on behalf. "If not" you are free to use the public areas until the time for your pick up to the airport.

If you have booked to extend to safari, salesperson and your driver guide will meet you for safari briefing.
