5 Days Scenic trek with wildlife highlights

Enjoy a remarkable trek with a manageable pace and ample acclimatization, featuring diverse scenic landscapes from lush forests to open moorlands. The route offers stunning views of the Ash Cone Crater and volcanic terrain, while the lower slopes teem with wildlife like giraffes, buffaloes, and various birds, adding an exciting safari touch to your adventure.

Upon arriving at Kilimanjaro Airport and clearing customs, our friendly driver and guide holding a sign board with your name will meet you, assist with your luggage, and transfer you to your hotel in Arusha. At the hotel, the driver will help with check-in and confirm your schedule for the next day.
Depending on your arrival time, you may receive a brief overview from a sales representative, and your guide will check your climbing gear. If the briefing doesn’t happen upon arrival, it will be arranged for the next morning before your trek begins.
Accommodation: Enjoy an overnight stay with bed and breakfast included at a hotel in Arusha city.

Start your day with breakfast at the hotel before a smooth, 1.5-to 2 hours drive to Momella Gate for check-in. The hike from Momella Gate is mostly uphill but enjoyable, offering views of the park’s shallow fresh water lake and a chance to see wildlife in Arusha

National Park. The trail passes through lush rainforest with occasional views of Mount Meru’s lower slopes. We’ll continue hiking until we reach Miriakamba Hut around 3:00 PM. After settling in, you’ll have time to refresh before dinner, which is served at 7:30 PM.

Breakfast will be served at 07:00 AM, after which we’ll begin our trek from Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut. This journey takes us through a dramatic transition from lush rainforest to moorland, with a notable highlight being the impressive Ash Cone Crater
along the way.
This day is crucial for acclimatization as we ascend from the lower forested slopes to the higher altitude, where the air is thinner. We’ll stop for a picnic lunch on the trail and aim to reach Saddle Hut by late afternoon. After arriving, you’ll have time to relax and enjoy dinner at 06:30 PM, before settling into our tents for a restful overnight stay.

After a leisurely breakfast at 07:00 AM, we’ll begin our ascent to the summit of Mount Meru. Along the way, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the crater rim, lush forested slopes, and the diverse wildlife found in the mountain’s lower elevations. Prepare for cold and windy conditions as we climb, and we’ll maintain a slow and steady pace to ensure proper acclimatization.
Upon reaching the summit, we’ll celebrate with photos before descending to Miriakamba Hut for a hot lunch around 12:00 PM. After a two-hour rest, we’ll continue our descent and arrive back at Miriakamba Hut by 17:00 PM. Dinner will be served at 19:00 PM, providing a perfect opportunity to relax and reflect on the day’s accomplishments.

After breakfast, we’ll celebrate our accomplishment as we begin our descent towards Miriakamba Hut. Enjoy the revitalizing atmosphere of the rainforest as we traverse the lower slopes of the mountain. Once we arrive at Momella Gate, we’ll have a celebratory lunch and receive a certificate of completion before returning to our hotel in Arusha. This is also a perfect opportunity to show your appreciation to the crew with a tip or reward.
